Dress Code & Class Practice Uniform

Dress Code

The regulation dress code is mandatory. No frills, sparkles, hearts, tutus – all leotards plain and embellished, whether short-sleeved, tank or camisole. Girls' hair must be neatly secured into a bun, with a hairnet or crocheted snood. Gel keeps wisps under control. Pre-ballet students may wear pony tails.

Pre-Ballet (Fantasy Garden/Pre-Primary)

Bloch Skirted leotard – pink ONLY (CL5342 or CL5309), pink non-frilled socks and full-soled ballet slippers

RAD Primary

Girls: Freed short sleeved RAD leotard – marine blue
Freed RAD mock wrap skirt – marine blue
Freed pink nylon socks, Bloch full soled pink leather ballet slippers

Boys: Freed RAD short sleeved shirt – light blue or white
Freed RAD cotton shorts – navy
White nylon socks and Bloch full-soled black leather ballet slippers

RAD Grades - Short sleeved tank leotard with matching belt, full-soled ballet slippers, black circular character skirt with 3 rows of colored ribbon, Black "Academy" character shoe.

Grade 1: Light pink leotard, pink Freed socks, pink ballet slippers
Grade 2: Light blue leotard, pink tights and ballet slippers
Grade 3: Lilac leotard, pink tights and ballet slippers with ribbons
Grade 4: Mulberry leotard (Freed), pink tights and ballet slippers with ribbons
Grade 5: Navy leotard (Freed) pink tights and slippers with ribbons
Grade 6: Plum camisole, Matching Full circular calf length chiffon skirt
Grades 7-8 Award: Leotard style and color determined by consensus at beginning of term

Boys (Grades & Vocationals): White t-shirt or short-sleeve boys leotard, black footless tights, white leather full sole ballet shoes, white Freed socks, Black canvas character shoes.

VOCATIONALS (Pre-professional):

Soft-points (de-shanked) and point shoes of any suitable fitting brand, pink tights

Intermediate Foundation: Navy camisole
Intermediate: Black camisole
Advanced Foundation: Black camisole
Advanced 1: Grey camisole
Advanced 2: Grey camisole
Solo seal: Black camisole, black circular chiffon skirt and black classic tutu

NON-BALLET CLASSES

Jazz/hip hop: Black jazz pants, plain colored leotard, canvas black jazz shoes (Sansha style # JS3).
Tap: Black jazz pants, plain colored leotard, black tap shoes- NO jeans or any other restrictive pants. No skirts or dresses.
NYC Ballet Workout & Pilates: Workout clothing, non-marking tennis-shoes worn inside only. No outside shoes please.

NOTES

• All new shoes must be checked by an instructor before worn in class.
• Please label all dancewear with the student’s full name.
• No dance shoes are to be worn outside of the studio.
• When coming to and going from the studio, all students must wear outer clothing over their dance attire.
• NO jewelry is to be worn in class. NO EXCEPTIONS.
